In September 1992, a fledgling waterpark ‘Splashdown’ was purchased by and taken under the wing of the group’s current MD Alan Richmond. Since the park’s opening in 1990, the park’s size has grown significantly and annual visitor numbers have soared from 125,000 to 180,000 with the site now operating as one of the biggest waterparks in the UK. In 2009, the group took over the reigns of Quaywest, an underperforming outdoor waterpark on the sunny English Riviera. Visitor numbers at the newly rebranded ‘Splashdown Quaywest’ peaked at a record 66,000 for 2013 proving it to be a successful acquisition.
Late 2009 also welcomed the valuable addition of Aquaflume; a water slide services division whose strength and breadth of knowledge is second to none. And by 2013, the Lemur Attractions Group was born, expanding further with the launch of Lemur Landings (formerly ‘Monkey Bizness’), Dorset’s largest indoor soft play and themed party centre.
By 2015, the Lemur Attractions Group has developed into one of the largest visitor attraction operators on South Coast, with over 20 years experience and counting.
“I am proud to be a founding member of the Lemur Attractions Group, and part of its story from the beginning. Our hardworking teams are passionate about our attractions and aim to ensure that every visitor has a fantastic experience, every day.”
Alan Richmond, Managing Director
