Retail/Catering Assistant


Responsible To: Managers/Supervisors

This position is a combined position where an applicant, if successful, could potentially work in 1 or more of our catering and retail outlets.

Hours: Varying shift patterns are available including evenings and weekends.

Primary Objectives: To provide the best customer service possible and to serve the customer as fast as possible whilst remaining friendly and polite.


Splashdown Quaywest is now hiring for its 2019 season.

Catering assistants are team members trained to operate one or more of our catering units, from ice creams to burgers and chips. Team members will be trained in all aspects from customer service to the cooking and prep of food.

Main Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Serve customers whilst being friendly and welcoming
  • Listen to the full order and repeat back once taken
  • When cooking follow all training making sure food is fully cooked and prepped the way we have shown you
  • Follow all food hygiene rules in regards to cleaning and general day to day tasks
  • Clean down and fully stock the unit during and at the end of the day
  • Maintain all required records

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Operate tills quickly and efficiently including voids, refunds and staff discounts
  • Changing till and card net rolls
  • Make sure correct change is given
  • Follow food hygiene regulations

Retail assistants will be trained to operate our beach store in which they will be shown how to use the tills, stock up the shop and keep everything organised and tidy. Applicants will need to be friendly and work well in a team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Serve customers whilst being friendly and welcoming
  • Listen to the full order and repeat back once taken
  • Making sandwiches, baguettes, and salads etc.
  • Cooking Paninis, jacket potatoes, and pasties etc.
  • Follow all food hygiene rules in regards to cleaning and general day to day tasks
  • Be as helpful as possible i.e. packing customers’ orders into bags
  • Clean down and fully stock the unit during and at the end of the day

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Operate tills quickly and efficiently including voids, refunds and staff discounts
  • Changing till and card net rolls
  • Make sure correct change is given
  • Follow food hygiene regulations
  • Maintain stock is filled correctly and safely

Skills Required: Applicants must have good customer service, be friendly and willing to help. Basic food hygiene is recommended. If you don’t have this we will hold a course that you can attend.

Training: Team members are expected to follow the training and guidance given to them by the management and supervisor teams. You will need to attend any scheduled training days as well as keeping any necessary qualifications up to date.
